Watch Miiesha perform 'Twisting Words' from Queensland's Capricorn Caves

Just a week after being named Best New Talent at the National Indigenous Music Awards, MIIESHA proved she's exactly that with an incredible performance for ABC's THE SOUND last night. Performing 'Caged Bird' and 'Twisting Words' from her critically acclaimed debut collection, Nyaaringu, she was joined by Jeremy Marou (one half of Busby Marou) to play the songs in the stunning Capricorn Caves near Rockhampton. With the historical limestone caves behind her, Miiesha shows exactly why she is one of this year's most exciting breakout stars with this performance. Her voice is like honey, soft and sweet, but still carrying that captivating element that had us hooked when we first heard from her earlier this year. Backed by nothing but an acoustic guitar, the soulful song hits even harder than ever with her impassioned performance, adding even more depth to the already powerful single.

Miiesha said about Nyaaringu, "Nyaaringu is a collection of stories that I feel I wanted to tell or that I needed to speak on. For me it represents my journey and where I'm at now coming from Woorabinda. The interludes in the collection are recordings of my Grandmother speaking. For me she was and always will stay with me as the strongest voice in my life so I felt she had to be a part of this with me."
