KEXP has shared a stunning set of Caroline Polachek performing songs from her incredible 2019 album, 'Pang'.
Filmed in The Time Before COVID-19, Caroline Polachek popped into the KEXP studios to perform a very special set. Playing songs from her incredible 2019 record, Pang, she delivered four songs in a stripped-back fashion with just her vocals and a piano and it is unsurprisingly stunning.
Acknowledging just how special these songs sound with Polachek's piano playing, she said while chatting during the set, "I've been a synth player for all of my life as a musician. I learned at a really young age -we're talking seven years old- that you can transpose so I never actually learned how to play in other keys. When you guys invited me to come and do this session, I was like, 'You know what? I think it would be really interesting to take this electronic record and strip it as far back as I can.'"
Further into the interview, Polachek discussed how liberating it was for her as an artist after her band Charlift disbanded, noting that she believes "liberation is an ongoing process that I'm always redefining."
In the set, Caroline played 'Go As A Dream', 'Door', 'So Hot You're Hurting My Feelings' and finished on 'Ocean of Tears'. Watch the set below.
