Butter Sessions celebrate ten years with three-volume compilation series, exclusive merch and more

Melbourne/Naarm based blog-turned-party-turned-label Butter Sessions is celebrating ten years in the game this year.

Helmed by Corey Kikos and Maryos Syawish, aka production duo Sleep D, Butter Sessions was first minted back in 2011, and has evolved from blog to party to label in the last decade. Based out of Melbourne/Naarm, the label has since released over 40 records, and its catalogue features releases from the likes of Roza Terenzi, Ewan Jansen, Tornado Wallace, Low Flung, DJ Fett Burger, Jayda G, Haruka and more. Now, in 2021, they're celebrating becoming one of the country's most loved electronic labels and ten years in the biz in style.

In addition to a new run of merch celebrating the milestone, Butter Sessions will be releasing a three-volume set of 12-inches on April 16th. The release is set to be 22 tracks, and will feature productions from Tornado Wallace, Roza Terenzi, Ivy Barkakati, Sleep D and D. Tiffany among many others. They'll also be releasing a 120-page book titled 10 Years Of Butter Sessions, collecting photos, artwork and stories.

In a press release, the releases have been described as presenting "a grand soundscape anchored into the tenebrous energy of the dancefloor, with its inquisitive electronics and fierce pulse."

"If there was a definition for the Butter Sessions sound of ten years in the making, the answer lies here."

To celebrate the announcement of 10 Years Of Butter Sessions, the label has released three new tunes — the opening tracks from each volume. From the robotic bass, droning vocal lines and piercing hi-hats of Vanessa Worm's 'To Be Continued' to Cale Sexton's electro-focused 'Mania' to the two-step of Turner Street Sounds' 'Time', each track delivers a distinctly different but nonetheless thoroughly on-brand take on that Butter Sessions "sound".

Each of the volumes will also be available separately, as well as all together in a special "showbag" bundling (which includes the full set in a limited tote with booklet, stickers and keyring). The label also hinted at parties in Melbourne/Naarm as well, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for more on that soon!
