Area 3000 Radio has become a community institution in Australian dance music. Based in Naarm, the community radio station plays host to hundreds of mixes, interviews and dedicated radio shows. The platform is hosted and founded by Sindy Smith (Sindy Sparkles), and supported by Jay Kim (Highly Minogue) who hosts interview and mix series, Spinning Around. Launched in Australia's harshest of lockdowns, the platform aimed to keep Australia's dance music scene connected in times of isolation.
Now, as Melbourne/Naarm's restrictions ease and as the station turns a year old, they've launched a special new project, 'Centuria', a 100 person back-to-back, 6 hour extravaganza. It's all taking place today (November 1st) at 11AM. What will eventuate is a 360 minute massive mix, a celebration of Australia's incredible dance music scene.
Artists mixing include Jennifer Loveless, Human Movement, Shedbug, Meg 4×4, Ivaana, Greetings, Froth Whitlam, Some Sheila, DJ Luv You, Ryan Berkeley, DJ Ingrid, Drip, Yollks, Heatwave Tommy, Foura, Lupa J, Female Wizard, Priya, Monfreaq, Kayroy, Soothsayer DJs, Frou Frou, Ham and more.
You can listen to it via the Area 3000 website, or after the fact on Soundcloud.
