Taking down the big issues with feminist science fiction.
Australia's biennial festival for the new generation of art, Next Wave Festival, has again gathered together some of the most intelligent and thought provoking artists from across the country.
Two of these talents are writer/performer Rachel Perks and director Bridget Balodis, a partnership that produced 2014's the award-winning Melbourne Fringe hit Angry Sexx.
Pairing up again Perks and Belodis have created new theatre work Ground Control. Drawing influence from gamer culture, '70s sci-fi and Perk's astrophysicist sister, Ground Control looks at issues like the culture of under-reported violence against women in Australia and mass displacement due to war ecological decay and asks the question "What is it we're moving toward? And is it already too late to stop it?"
Presented by Next Wave Festival, Ground Control will feature at Northcote Town Hall from 5 - 14 May.
