The study also showed that the 90s had the best video game music of all eras.

A new study has been released which has analysed YouTube video views to determine what the most popular time periods were for video game music.

The study showed that the 90s had the best video game music of all eras based on the collective view count of the songs on YouTube, landing a total of 220,892,769 views and counting.

The study also found that the booming, USB worthy otherworldly track Techno Syndrome, which was the main theme from 1992's Mortal Kombat has the highest amount of views of any video game song. It's currently sitting at over 141 million views.

Second to Techno Syndrome is Still Alive from 2007's Portal, which has amassed 43 million views, well behind the top dog.

Following the 90s was the 2000s which was the second most popular decade for video game music, followed by the 2010s and then the 80s. The study also found that fighting, adventure and puzzle were the top three genres of video games where music was most popular. Fighting was the clear winner in this category, amassing a total number of 165,620,231 views on YouTube.

The data was compiled by Best Casino Sites who made the list upon researching the 60 best pieces of video game music of all time.
