New Pink Martini Album To Feature Rufus Wainwright

And a host of other names too

More Pink Martini Pink Martini

Details have emerged on the brand new album from American collective Pink Martini, with the release date and collaborators revealed.

Get Happy, the band's seventh studio record, will feature acclaimed singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright, the vocals of the late Phyllis Diller in a new recording of Charlie Chaplin's hit Smile, plus Philippe Katerine, Meow Meow, Ari Shapiro and The von Trapps. The 16 track LP will also feature songs sung in an array of different languages including German, Spanish, Japanese and French.

The unique ensemble were formed by bandleader Thomas M. Lauderdale back in 1994 and now boasts two lead vocalists - original singer China Forbes and her one-time fill-in Storm Large.

You can get your hands on a copy of Get Happy from Friday 4 October. For now here's the album trailer...
