'Dizzy Heights' will be his first release on Kobalt
A new Neil Finn album will be released early next year, with the veteran singer-songwriter to unveil Dizzy Heights on Friday 7 February via Lester Records/Kobalt Label Services.
The record, his first through Kobalt, will mark a "more expansive" sound for the Split Enz and Crowded House frontman. He collaborated with Mercury Rev, The Flaming Lips and Tame Impala producer Dave Fridmann.
“I didn't want to make it a solo record in a stripped back singer-songwriter sort of way," Finn said. “I had a feeling Dave would be good at adding some odd shapes to the music. Which I always welcome - making things a little more expansive."
The record will also be accompanied by a short film called Divebomber (also one of the tracks on the LP) and will be shown on the New Zealand native's YouTube channel. And Finn has released the video clip to the track Divebomber and, well, it really does show a different direction for the singer-songwriter. We think we love it, but aren't completely sure - check it out and make up your own mind.
