New Deal To Give Aussie Musicians Cheaper Touring Costs

21 March 2015 | 11:03 am | Staff Writer

'Cause even musos love cheap flights...

A new initiative has been implemented to give local musicians cheaper touring and travel costs.

Set-up by the Australian Music Industry Network (AMIN) body, in conjunction with state bodies  Music Victoria and MusicNSW, and company Travel Beyond Group, Aussie musos, will have access to discounted airfares and accommodations and on-ground touring requirements such as drivers, free wi-fi and on-site parking at hotels, etc.

The discounted airfares will come via Virgin Australia, both international and domestic, following on from a relationship AMIN have had enjoyed with them

"Last year AMIN surveyed its members about what discounts and benefits they would like us to negotiate for them, to complement the excess baggage deal we negotiated with Virgin Australia in 2011," said Patrick Donovan, AMIN Chair and CEO of Music Victoria.

"Well you asked for it – you got it! After discussion with the key travel companies we are thrilled to partner with Travel Beyond Group as our preferred supplier to cut red tape and costs for touring bands. We are particularly thrilled with the 7% discount off the cheapest Virgin Australia flight prices, which will complement the excess baggage discounts and encourage Australian bands to tour more often."

The initiative will be available to those members of Music Victoria as of Monday, 23 Mar, with other states to follow soon. Head to the AMIN website for more.
