Necrophagist over? Fans notice no difference

If they weren't so respected and a new album not so anticipated, you'd swear Germany's Necrophagist were simply taking the piss in regards to preparing new music. 12 years since their last album, all fans have since received is dispersed speculation and embellished Internet accounts on any (possible) progress.

However, there may be another reason...the band is simply no more. While Tool, Dimmu Borgir and a few other metal bands have also worked at a snail's pace with their new albums, we have at least read some updates. The last Facebook post from Necrophagist came in 2014, and was simply an update promoting a Relapse Records merch sale.

As reported by Metal Injection this week, drummer Romain Goulon, when responding to a fan's question online, seemed less than enthused about the state of the band, when he wrote:

"Look, we're looking for a coffin to mourn. We hesitate on the wood. The red raspberry or bamboo?"

Looks like we'll have to make do with 'Onset Of Putrefaction' and 'Epitaph', folks.
