‘Nashville’ Star Clare Bowen Cast In Aussie Supernatural Series

Currently filming in Melbourne.

More Clare Bowen Clare Bowen Profile

Aussie musician and Nashville actor Clare Bowen will star in upcoming SBS supernatural drama series Hungry Ghosts.

The four-part SBS original series, which is currently filming in Melbourne, is described as “a chilling, character-driven ghost story that explores the lives of three generations of Vietnamese Australian families, all haunted by the traumatic events of war”.

Its synopsis reads: “When a powerful amulet is broken on the eve of the Hungry Ghost Festival in Melbourne, a vengeful spirit is unleashed, bringing the dead with him. As they wreak havoc across the Vietnamese Australian community, reclaiming lost loves and repaying old grudges, a young woman who’s never taken responsibility for who she could be, must finally step up and accept her destiny.”

The genre-bending series, as producer Stephen Corvini said, “will reflect the extraordinary lived and spiritual stories of our Vietnamese community and their place in modern Australia.”

Bowen will star alongside Bryan Brown (Bloom, Sweet Country, Old School), Justine Clarke, Wentworth’s Susie Porter, Ryan Corr (Bloom, Holding The Man) and more, with the series expected to be released later this year.
