At least the internet is a more entertaining place
The polarising opinions surrounding Trump’s US presidency has turned the internet into a battlefield, with an overload of musicians, actors and other celebs lashing out at one another or sharing controversial posts.
Some of the incidents have been interesting, others wildly inappropriate but either way, it’s been quite entertaining.
Here’s some of the more memorable moments so far:
Trump’s tomfoolery keeps edging its way closer to Australia, and after throwing the visa system into chaos (don’t worry, it won’t affect Aus artists), reports surfaced yesterday that he hung up on Malcolm Turnbull after a heated phone call, which led The Boss to make his third statement on their new leader while down under, telling Melbourne last night, "We stand before you embarrassed Americans tonight.”

Some people think that artists should just stick to their craft and not push their political views on other people, but some people are also hypocrites, like US country star Travis Tritt.
Tritt said: “Advice to all actors, musicians and entertainers: Please stick to your crafts that we all love you for and drop the political rhetoric.”
Perhaps forgetting he had posted some political views on Twitter in the past. Well, the internet didn’t forget. The internet forgets nothing. Check out the chaos here.
Sometimes the back and forth between celebrities gets quite interesting, as was the result when Flight Of The Conchord’s Jemaine Clement and Happy Days Scott Baio went head-to-head on Twitter. Things quickly escalated through some lowbrow jabs after Clement had a dig at Baio’s support for Trump, resulting in comments like this: "Bless you, Chachi. I hope your long battle with puberty is over by the time you hit 60.”

And then some ride their opinions with extreme pride, regardless of the upset it's likely to cause — Azealia Banks being quite vocal about her opinions. "America deserves a WAAAAAAAY better first female president then trash ass Hilary. Now that the cow has lost for the SECOND time, let's set her back out to pasture,” she said via Facebook and that’s just the beginning.
It seems anyone who gets too close to Trump gets annihilated on social media, with 3 Doors Down taking a beating on social media after performing at his inauguration. "Hope your quick paycheck was worth it you fucking American Nickelback,” someone said on their Facebook.
Countless others knocked backed requests to play or withdrew after committing, with singer Jennifer Holliday claiming she and her family had received death threats.
While some focus efforts on trolling, others are actually trying to make a positive difference, Canadian indie pop sisters Tegan & Sara launching an LGBTQ rights foundation in order to "fight for economic justice, health, and representation for LGBTQ girls and women". The Tegan & Sara Foundation was announced back in December, with the duo saying the "incoming Trump administration" was an inspiration.
