The Pogues sell out Melbourne show
One month out from arriving on our shores, The Pogues announce that their Melbourne show at Festival Hall has completely sold out. There are still a few tickets left to the Sydney show at Hordern Pavillion. The Pogues have been an indelible high watermark on the fickle tide of popular music for the last 30 years. Lead by the charismatic Shane MacGowan, The Pogues command an army of die-hard fans the world over, captivated by the power and conviction of one of the last true punk rock bands. For Australian members of said legion, the 23 year wait to see The Pogues on home shores will soon to be over, with the band - including Shane MacGowan, Jem Finer, Spider Stacy, James Fearnley, Darryl Hunt, Andrew Ranken, Philip Chevron, Terry Woods - announcing their first Australian tour since 1989, taking in Sydney, Melbourne, Byron Bay Blues Fest and West Coast Blues n Roots Festival.

Xibalba announce Australian tour
Perhaps the heaviest hardcore band in recent years, Xibalba from Pomona, CA are on their way to Australia for the first time in April. Combining their love for hardcore, metal and everything heavy, Xiblaba have quickly risen in extreme music circles. Having released their first full length “Madre Mia Por Los Dias” on A389 Recordings last year, they followed it up with a cracking split with NY bruisers Incendiary on Closed Casket Activities and are now preparing for the release of new album “Hasta La Muerta” on the legendary Southern Lord. Their sound has been likened to Disembodied, Earth Crisis and Obituary, with aggressive speed giving way to apocalyptic breakdowns and brutality.Joining them on the tour will be Melbourne’s hardest Warbrain. The all star band has caught many an eye in Australia, with every new release they catch the attention of new audiences. Having previously toured with AYS (Germany) and fellow Melbourne thugs Iron Mind, Warbrain will take to the road in April o...

Resist Records to release Tim Barry album
A few years back, singer-songwriter Tim Barry closed out an album by pondering his own death – and he didn't seem to mind leaving this earth too much. "Take what you want/I won't leave much," he sang. 2012 finds him in a very different place. Themes of resilience and hope flow through Barry's new record, "40 Miler," which will be released in Australia by Resist Records (licensed from Chunksaah) on April 6th. "If this record is uplifting compared to my old ones it's because I feel stronger from all the beat-downs and shit I've taken in the past," says the Richmond, Virginia-based artist. "40 Miler" also finds Barry taking his spare folk-country sound in a different direction. This time around Barry opts for more raucous, rocking approach on several tracks, adding more electric guitar, organ, piano, harmonica, as well as the gorgeous voice of Richmond songstress Julie Karr to the mix. Barry says the fresh sound was intentional. While he crafted the record's dozen tracks by himse...

Bitter End announce Australian tour
Influenced by the metallic New York Hardcore bands of the late 80's and early 90's, San Antonio's Bitter End have established themselves as a brute force in the hardcore community. With all the makings of a contemporary hardcore classic, 2010's "Guilty As Charged" bruises and batters with dynamic riffing, potent vocals/lyrics, and bone shaking breakdowns. Songs like "Unjust" and the title track "Guilty As Charged" showcase this hybrid brand of hard hitting thrash and hardcore. A tried and tested formula that Bitter End not only embrace, but continue to improve upon in their own vicious way. This May they make there way to Australia for the first time where they will be joined by Perth's Blkout. Bitter End Australian Tour May 2012 with special guests Blkout Thur May 17 Basement 243, Brisbane Fri May 18 Between the Walls Brisbane AA Sat May 19 YAC, Byron Bay AA Sun May 20 Live At The Wall, Sydney Lic / AA.
