The PreaturesThe publishing for Sydney buzz band The Preatures has been snapped up by Mushroom Music Publishing, it has been announced this afternoon, with the company securing the Australian rights to the band's catalogue.
After the release of their second EP Is This How You Feel? – and, most importantly, it's title-track – thing blew up for the band, with the world's music media jumping on the song and praising its infectious nature. The track won the Vanda and Young songwriting prize last year, earning the band a cool $50,000, and no doubt putting them on the wishlist of many a publisher in this country.
The band will release their debut album sometime this year, but not before heading to the UK and Europe for a few shows, followed by a jaunt to the US, where they will perform shows at Coachella and SxSW to name a few.
Linda Bosidis, A&R for Mushroom, said the band's approach was hugely attractive to the company, as well as their songwriting prowess.
“We saw The Preatures play live and met with them early in their career. We instantly fell for their calibre of songwriting, industrious approach and natural magnetism,” she said in a statement today.
