Introducing Long Play Music Films.

More Thin Lizzy More Thin Lizzy

Mushroom Group has today announced the launch of their new film company, Long Play Music Films.

The company will look focus on film distribution and production that exhibits "the latest and greatest music documentaries, biopics and prestige concert films".

Long Play Music Films has announced that its inaugural project will be the Australian distribution of Phil Lynott: Songs For While I’m Away, the new documentary looking at the legendary Thin Lizzy frontman.

The film features interviews with the likes of U2's Adam Clayton, Suzi Quatro, Metallica's James Hetfield and more and will premiere as part of the Irish Film Festival in early September, before getting a wider cinematic release from 29 September.

While looking at the life of Lynott - who passed away in 1986 at just 36 years old - and the iconic Irish group, the film will also show footage of the band's 1978 performance on the Sydney Opera House steps which drew in over 100,000 people.

"I’m really pleased to see Long Play Music Films spring to life with our first theatrical release. What started out as a fun side project is now a reality as Long Play aspires to help tell unique and wonderful music stories from around the globe,” said Long Play Music Films director Warren Costello.
