Muse to tour Australia/New Zealand in 2013?

There is speculation a Australian/New Zealand tour by English rockers Muse could be on the cards for 2013 following comments made by two prominent New Zealand publications.

While nothing has been made official by the band yet, the New Zealand Herald claims, “Muse will tour (New Zealand) in the first part of next year, according to front man Matt Bellamy who TimeOut interviewed last week for the band's new album, The 2nd Law”.

Meanwhile, adding fuel to the rumours is Stuff.co.nz, who’ve quoted Muse drummer Dominic Howard as stating the likelihood of an upcoming New Zealand tour is “high” and will “probably be after our next summer”.

As you guys know, bands that tour New Zealand generally tour Australia around the same time too, so there’s always the chance it could be part of a larger world tour or festival run.

However, before we jump to conclusions, it’s important to note the news does contradict earlier comments made by the band, who told triple j magazine in July this year that a Australia/New Zealand tour wasn’t expected until at least 2014.

The last time Muse toured Australia was in 2010, when they headlined the Big Day Out and returned later in the year for a series of headline shows.

Muse's new album, The 2nd Law, is released on September 28.
