The annual Mullum Music Festival already brings with it a sizeable dose of community spirit, and it will take that quality even further in 2017 with the announcement of a series of special events and collaborations to take place at next month's shindig.

For example, a collection of artists including Lindi Ortega, Wallis Bird, William & Jules Crighton, Lucie Thorne, Hamish Stuart, Jimmy Dowling, Heartworn Highway, Sara Tindley and more will be celebrating the legendary catalogue of Guy Clark and Townes Van Zandt in a special show curated by Sista Mary at The Courthouse Hotel.

Also on the cards will be an all-star friendly affair for Mullum faves Tinpan Orange, who will be joined by their mates Husky Gawenda, Loretta Miller, Liz Stringer, Xani Kolac, Harry Angus and Mama Kin "to bring together our musical community, a bunch of musicians who have also been loved and supported by Mullum Fest, for one special Tinpan Orange show," frontwoman Emily Lubitz explained.

The life and work of the late Jesse Younan will also be celebrated with a tribute performance staged by his brother, Emad Younan, as well as Loren Kate, Kodi Twiner (Ladyslug), Angie Hudson, The Twoks and more festival acts, while the event will also celebrate eight years of its youth mentorship program with the Song Harvest show featuring Domini Forster, Cecilia Brandolini, Asha Jeffries, Squeak Lemaire, Hannah Parrington, Chloe Mason, Bridget & Monica Brandolini, Mali Biggin, Meghan Donnelly, Nick Scales, Luka Biggin and Paddy Swain.

Topping it off, punters will have the chance to hear RocKwiz co-host Brian Nankervis in conversation "on the couch", see Mama Kin Spender's acclaimed show accompanied by a 17-piece choir, and an homage to industry veteran Jo Jo Smith, featuring Lucie Thorne, Hamish Stuart, Greg Lyons, Steve Russell, Dave Sanders and some surprise guests — and that's really just scratching the surface of the stuff that'll be worth marking as unmissable in your festival planner.

Mullum Music Festival 2017, proudly presented by The Music, runs from 16-19 November in Mullumbimby.
