Ahilan Ratnamohan performs SDS1, a theatrical portrayal of the poetic physicality involved in the world's most watched game, football.
Ratnamohan, a physical theatre-maker and former footballer will tour his show nationally. He has been developing a unique blend of sport and performance, created to ponder the psyche of the players when under the stadium lights. Through movement, the piece of theatre interprets the experience of being at a live football game, watching the players battle in a poetic and visceral way. Extensive workshops will also be running to give the audience a chance to experience the blend of sport and contemporary performance for themselves.
The performance will visit seven arts venues across the country and kicks off on 19 August at the Arts House in Melbourne, followed by Vitalstatistix in Adelaide on 26 August; Blacktown Arts Centre in Sydney on 2 September; Salamanca Arts Centre, Tasmania, 17 September; Perth Institute Of Contemporary Arts on 23 September; Mandurah Performing Arts Centre, 29 September; and Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre, 20 October.
