"It’s being confronted with a world that doesn’t seem to recognise your humanity, and seeing no way out of it.”
US indie rock sensation Mitski has released her first taste of new music in three years, with her brand new tune Working For The Knife.
The song laments the state of the world from the eyes of a despondent adult, and yearns for the bygone days of youthful optimism and joyous wonder.
“It’s about going from being a kid with a dream, to a grown up with a job," the singer says of the track. "Feeling that somewhere along the way you got left behind. It’s being confronted with a world that doesn’t seem to recognise your humanity, and seeing no way out of it,”
The accompanying video for the track sees the Washing Machine Heart artist perform an intensely jagged choreographed dance routine inside the empty vastness of Albany performance space The Egg, and exploring the area that would otherwise be crammed with excited punters and audience members.
Mitski just announced a North American and Euro/UK tour with more dates expected to be announced. Keep an eye out at The Music for all updates.
