"Do you like jazz?"
The experimental/progressive/jazz trio that could, Milton Man Gogh will be taking their newest album 'Stress To Impress'. In more or less their own words, group formed as an artistic outlet for the three members to play the original compositions that no-one else gave one single shit about playing. Which is maybe why they're so damned good at it, evident by their latest LP; one that they'll be taking on the road in February and March.
The tour will feature some special guests that were acquainted with the band when drummer/percussionist Benjamin Shanon participated in the Banff International Jazz program in August 2017, with Melbournian Erica Tucceri on the flute and Adelaide resident Django Rowe on guitar. The tour also features fellow Art As Catharsis labelmates, Sydney's avant-garde-jazz-meets-grind Kurushimi and Martin Kay Group which also have upright bassist Zac Sakrewski and Shanon from Milton Man Gogh filling out the rhythm section.
Also with the tour announcement this morning, the three-piece have unveiled a new music video for what is arguably the best cut from 'Stress To Impress' - '(Fork) In A World Of Soup'. The band said of their new film clip that:
"We recorded the video a little bit before the release of the album at a little white room just outside of the city which we hired from a fella named Ron. He's a nice guy who definitely needs to be mentioned. We got our producer Roman on board and he pretty much took the song and ran with the concept through his own eyes. A half day of shooting with Shanahan Flanders at the helm, help from makeup artist Ngaiire Lock to make us look half dece, dancer Yenenesh Nigusse to make us do interesting movements (with her own awesome work alongside) and a fair few mangoes (Milton) later, we have the music video for Fork (In a World of Soup). We are super stoked with it and we hope everyone gets a bit of a smile out of it."
