Can Missy Higgins knock off The Sapphires?
The soundtrack to The Sapphires is enjoying top spot in the ARIA Album Charts, but the record is going to have to work to keep that position as midweek figures reveal that other releases will come close.
Last week's number two, Birdy by Birdy has had another solid week, but so have recent number one Ed Sheeran with + and a rejuvenated Missy Higgins whose The Ol' Razzle Dazzle has had a strong start to the week. At this stage Bloc Party's Four, which debuted at three last week, doesn't look like making the top spot by Sunday, when the chart is released.
A little further down the field and there's another battle between Timomatic and Oh Mercy. The two locals look set to crack the top 50 easily and will be looking at each other for the highest debut next week.
Guy Sebastian and Justice Crew are locked in a tight battle for the number one single with Battle Scars and Boom Boom respectively, and the only other track that looks like taking the top spot away from either of them is current number three Taylor Swift with We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together. That said, Birdy's cover of Bon Iver's Skinny Love debuted at four last week and must be attracting short odds.
