Mick Thomas & The Roving Commission Unveil Extensive Summer Tour

Beloved Aussie singer-songwriter Mick Thomas — he of Wedding Parties Anything fame and, more recently, often finding his name followed by the words The Roving Commission — will embark on an extensive national run in the final weeks of this year for a string of shows dubbed the Summer Over The Ranges tour.

The tour gets under way in Portarlington, Victoria, at Saints & Sailors, heading to the Riverstock Festival in Moorook, SA, before hitting the Grace Emily Hotel in Adelaide. From there, it's up the east coast to Newtown Social Club, Petersham Bowling Club, Junk Bar (in Ashgrove), Bison Bar (in Nambour), and Fremantle's Fly By Night before wrapping up with a run of hotel gigs — the Oxford in Leederville, the Croxton in Thornbury and the Greendale in, well Greendale.

The final two shows are a little extra special, being two days before Christmas and New Year's Day (an afternoon, family-friendly affair), respectively.

Opening the shows (except in Queensland) will be Rich Davies & The Low Road, who will deliver "a rousing and visceral foot-stomping contemporary folk attack in support of their brand new album Ghosts", to hear Thomas describe it. The band features Roving Commission banjo star Ayleen O'Hanlon, who also serves as solo support in Nambour. Additional support comes from Eagle & The Wolf, who will step up in Sydney, and Tracy McNeil & The Good Life, who join the fun at the Croxton "just to make sure Santa knows that we've all been very, very good this year".
