Machine Gun KellyAmerican singer-songwriter mgk – formerly known as Machine Gun Kelly – is returning to Australia and New Zealand this month, embarking on a massive arena tour.
Today, he’s revealed that another special guest will join him and fellow American musician honestav on the run. Standout Aotearoa artist Will Swinton will now open all shows.
Swinton met mgk by chance at a bar in Idaho back in 2022. At the time, he’d just sold his car and quit his job in Auckland, using his last savings on a one-way ticket to LA. mgk then invited the burgeoning artist backstage during his Mainstream Sellout Tour.
Now, Swinton has amassed more than 100 million streams on DSPs, released two EPs, and been covered by Kelly Clarkson on her talk show (she performed a rendition of Flames).

Today’s announcement arrives after mgk’s Melbourne show sold out; limited tickets remain in all other cities. The tour is mgk’s first in Australia since 2018.
mgk’s upcoming tour begins at Perth’s RAC Arena on Wednesday, 8 April. It continues at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on Saturday, 11 April, Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on Tuesday, 14 April, the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Thursday, 16 April, and concludes at Auckland’s Spark Arena on Saturday, 18 April.
You can find remaining tickets on the Live Nation Australia and New Zealand websites.
The singer is currently touring in support of his latest album, lost americana, released last August. The record marked his first full-length since 2022’s Mainstream Sellout.
Ahead of the album’s release, mgk unveiled a teaser narrated by Bob Dylan. “Lost Americana is a personal excavation of the American dream,” Dylan drawled. “A journey to find what’s been lost. This album is a love letter to those who seek to rediscover it: the dreamers, drifters, the defiant.”
He continued, “It’s a sonic map of forgotten places—a tribute to the spirit of reinvention, and a quest to reclaim the essence of American freedom. From the gold neon diners to the rumble of the motorcycles, this is music that celebrates the beauty found in the in-between spaces. Where the past is reimagined, and the future is forged on your own terms.”
