The wife of late rapper MF DOOM, real name Dumile Daniel Thompson, has raised "concerns" around the treatment the muso received at a Leeds hospital shortly before his shock death on October 31, 2020, at the at of 49.
As per Leeds Live, MF DOOM was being treated in St James's Hospital after he had suffered a severe and 'rare' reaction to blood pressure medication that to treat his kidney disease and other health concerns, which led the rapper to struggle with weight gain and anxiety.
Thompson had taken just "two doses" of the medication before he began to suffer from breathing problems and his "tongue and throat had started to swell".
The family of the late rapper are currently conducting an investigation into the standard of care provided at the hospital before his death, with a specific focus on allegations of insufficient attention from the medical staff, who reportedly took two hours to administrate medication for his swollen throat.
His wife, Jasmine Thompson, said she had a "number of concerns" over her husband's care at the hospital, claiming that he had called her on October 21 "in distress" as he was unable to alert medical staff to his deteriorating condition because his buzzer was to of reach.
Thompson told Wakefield Coroner’s Court that DOOM had been placed in a room containing an "old metal desk" and books, saying the room appeared to be "a hospital room a very long time ago."
"I don’t want to say it was an old storage room … it wasn’t set up. Maybe it was a room a long time ago. It did have a bed in it.”

She then tried to contact the hospital to alert them of her husband's deteriorating state, only to be told she would be unable to visit him due to COVID restrictions.
"I was not able to see him until the 31st," she said. "That's when the respirator was turned off that was helping him breathe."
Wakefield Coroner's Court was also told that MF Doom had tried to get out to bed while complaining that he "couldn't breathe" before collapsing and going into cardiac arrest.
It was later revealed that he had suffered a rare reaction to his medication, Angiotensin-converting-enzyme (ACE) inhibitors, which had caused him to develop angioedema, which causes extreme swelling of the body.
Several weeks after his death on October 31, Jasmin paid tribute to her husband via Instagram, calling him "a wonderful, talented man taken too soon and missed by everyone."
