Popular WA live music venue Metropolis Fremantle has received a million-dollar upgrade.
Owners of the Fremantle space, which will host Bastille, Pennywise, The Darkness, Jimmy Eat World and more in the coming months, have revealed serious upgrades to the club’s audio-visual facilities.
The venue now features 360-degree lighting, a new screen suspended above the dancefloor (connected to Australia’s “only moving mother grid”) as well as upgraded screens around the venue and behind the stage.
“With the trend towards touring acts producing a grand visual experience to accompany their stage show, Metropolis’ upgrade in facilities offers local and touring acts a similar opportunity in producing their own amazing audio-visual experience,” longtime venue booker Jeff Halley said.
Since opening on South Terrace in 1991, taking over from King’s Theatre, Metropolis Fremantle has seen INXS, Jimmy Barnes, Snoop Dogg, Interpol and countless more artists perform on its stage.
The upgrades follow news last November that Perth venue Capitol will also be undergoing major changes this year.
