Metallica were honored with a Grammy in the "Best Metal Performance" category in the pre-telecast ceremony at the 51st annual Grammy Awards, which were being held last night (Sunday, February 8) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Metallica were nominated for the track "My Apocalypse", from the band's 2008 album "Death Magnetic". Congratulations, Metallica! Metallica were nominated for the very first "Best Metal Performance" Grammy in 1989, but famously lost to JETHRO TULL.
The band have taken home seven Grammys since (not counting last night's award), including five for "Best Metal Performance." The nominees in this year's "Metal" category included following: Dragonforce - "Heroes of Our Time" Judas Priest - "Nostradamus" Metallica - "My Apocalypse" Ministry - "Under My Thumb" Slipknot - "Psychosocial"
