In an interview with Italy's Rock TV, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich discussed the band's future plans. He notes:

"Right now the only plan in Metallica is we're more or less trying to survive this tour. We've got another 14 months — we're going out through August 2010. It's difficult for me to think about another record, so there are no plans. But the experience with [producer] Rick Rubin [who worked on 2008's 'Death Magnetic'] was a very positive one that I'm pretty sure that we're going to make another record with Rick; I would like to make another record with Rick at some point."

The band last released "Death Magnetic" last year.
