Melbourne's The Light In Winter Festival To Return

Melbourne winter tradition to show ninth instalment

Melbourne's winter tradition, The Light In Winter will return for the ninth time this year, beginning in June.

The event will take place in Federation Square, fronted by Artistic Director and arts luminary, Robyn Archer AO, who will bring together local and international artists to celebrate the free events, exhibitions and performances.

It will also mark a world premiere showcase for renowned UK artist Chris Levine who will present his laser installation, Molecule Of Light.

The visual spectacle promises to be special as the lasers, positioned eight metres above ground over Federation Square, will converge upon an acrylic sphere from three different angles and the resultant light will burst in to a series of shapes and lights.

Also set to return from last year's festival is the mesmerising 3D installation, Luminous Intervention by Melbourne artists, Skunk Control - a stunning exploration of how plants use light.

The free festival will commence on June 1 and showcase nightly events through to June 21 from 5:30pm.
