Melbourne's Much-loved Cherry Bar Is Reopening... In The Exact Same Location

Less than a month after closing its doors, Melbourne institution Cherry Bar has announced it will be reopening its doors in AC/DC Lane.

The venue announced its closure back in January with reports that the premises would be taken over by Eve nightclub owners' Nick and Daniel Russian. 

In a post made to the venue's Facebook page today, it was announced that Cherry Bar would reopen from Friday 3 May after their "settlement has been delayed due to… red tape. Lots of red tape."

"So, Cherry has been closed for the last month, when we could have been open and while we are paying rent and outgoings," it reads. 

"Now it transpires that the red tape delays on this ‘settlement’ look like being considerably more than just four weeks…

"We’re sick and tired of paying rent on a closed and viable live music venue in Melbourne. We’re sick and tired of looking at an empty stage that could and should be hosting local bands and late night revellers." See the full post below. 

There is currently no news on how long Cherry Bar will remain open at the location. The Music has reached out to Cherry Bar management for comment.
