Melbourne Locals Start Petition For Late Night Liquor Service

Melbourne locals Christopher Dingas and Connor Lappin have launched a petition for a late night liquor delivery service they call The Late Night Bootleggers.

As the standard bottle shops in the city close at 11pm, the two friends and business partners believe that a late night delivery service would benefit those in the community and it would operate until 8am.

The petition has been put in place to not only gain a liquor license, but to show local authorities that the public want the home service.

Dingas and Lappin said: "We hope that this can be a significant force in persuading the Liquor Commission to grant us the privilege to service Melbourne in a way that we all have only dreamed of."

Although Melbourne already has 24 hour bottle shops in the inner city area, the boys maintain that a home delivery service is a much more efficient way to operate and it is also safer for the customer.

And while, if the petition succeeds, the delivery service would launch in Melbourne, the co-founders hope to expand the business throughout the country.

However with tougher drinking laws in states outside of Victoria, there might be a long road ahead for expansion plans. In NSW, home delivery services such as  Jimmy Brings can only operate until 10pm.
