Melbourne International Comedy Festival Reveals Full 2016 Program

The annual event is celebrating its 30th anniversary, and has unveiled a fittingly massive spread of acts for this year's festival

The annual Melbourne International Comedy Festival is edging ever closer, and with its 30th-anniversary event now only just over a month away, its organisers have blown the lid off this year's massive full program of rib-tickling attractions.

The 2016 MICF will comprise a whopping 535 shows performed across 121 venues, adding up to more than 6603 performances by more than 2000 humorists across its nearly four-week-long duration.

In addition to the ream of hilarious names already announced for this year's festival, punters will be treated to Jen Kirkman's sure-to-please show I Know What I'm Doing & Other Lies I Tell Myself, along with newly on-sale shticks from the likes of Stephen K AmosEddie SharpJennifer CarnovaleLiam RyanJimmy James EatonBridget Everett, Stuart Daulman and a raft of others.  

The MICF will also welcome back stalwart favourites of the festival such as the RAW Comedy competition, Class Clowns workshop, the Deadly Funny Indigenous comedy development program, the femme-tastic Upfront Gala, the charitably inclined Oxfam Gala, the high-profile hilarity of the Opening Night Comedy All-Stars Supershow, the Comedy Zone and its Comedy Zone Asia offshot, as well as all-ages fare for the family including The (Very) Big Laugh Out and Comedy Club For Kids.

The 30th Melbourne International Comedy Festival kicks off with the Opening Night All-Stars Supershow on Wednesday 23 March, and will keep the laughs coming right through till Sunday 17 April.
