Barry Award nominees announced
With just a few days remaining on the 2015 Melbourne International Comedy Festival, the nominees for the annual Barry Awards have been announced.
The prestigious comedy event named after Aussie veteran Barry Humphries released this years nominees and they include local talents Lawrence Mooney, Sam Simmons, Damien Power, as well as UK comics Luisa Omielan and John Kearns.
Also up for the night’s biggest gong is up and coming stand up act Steen Raskopoulos who we gave a five star review for his show last week – check it out here!
Festival director Susan Provan said of the nominees: “the 2015 shortlist represents the eclectic comedy genre mix and something-for-every-taste appeal celebrated by the Festival.”

Past winners of the award include Denise Scott and the hugely popular British comedian Ross Noble.
Meanwhile, other awards to be won on the night include Best Newcomer, the Golden Gibbo Award, given to the best independent production and The Director’s Choice Award.
The presentation will take place on the 23 Apr in the Festival Club at the Hi-Fi in Melbourne.
