'Songs For My Butcher Bird' lands next month
Emergent Brisbane/Melbourne duo Milk Buttons has announced the release of their debut EP, Songs For My Butcher Bird, early next month, with the band locking in a pair of launch shows in their respective home towns.
The two-piece is the new project of veteran songsmiths Jackson Muir (Mosman Alder) and Cameron Bower (Big Dead), so it's little surprise that their debut single, Flowers — which landed earlier this month — was so inventive and well-crafted a listen, given its creators' serious musical pedigree.
The track was brought to life with the assistance of bassist Nick Broomham (Big Bad Echo) and drummer/engineer Alex L'Estrange (Mid Ayr, Emma Louise), and introduced us to the band's distinct, alt-dream-pop leanings with immediacy and intent.
It precedes the EP's release on Friday 2 June, before Milk Buttons hit the stage at Brisbane's Bearded Lady (with Papperbok and Requin) and Melbourne's Bar Open (with Breve and Parc) to welcome the release proper.
