Meghan Trainor has issued an apology after saying “fuck teachers” during a recent episode of her Workin’ On It podcast.

The episode, featuring American YouTuber Trisha Paytas, saw the pair discuss parenting and schooling in particular.

Last week, Trainor said that she and her husband, Spy Kids actor Daryl Sabara, will homeschool their children. “Everyone on TikTok is like, ‘This is what it’s like having kids in America. I have a bulletproof backpack.’ I was like, fuck all that,” she said, referring to America’s epidemic mass school shootings.

When Paytas and Trainor discussed bullies and teachers, that’s when the Australian Idol judge let out the “fuck teachers” comment.

Yesterday, Trainor apologised and clarified that she didn’t mean any offence with her comments. “Teachers of TikTok and teachers of the world, I recently said ‘F teachers’ on the podcast, and it’s not how I feel,” she began.

“I was fired up because we were talking about how sending your kid to school here in America is so horrific.”

“I did not mean [to say that about] all teachers,” she continued. “I love teachers, I fight for teachers. I think they have the hardest job, and they are the most underpaid. They are the most unappreciated when they literally raise all of us. I don’t want to make excuses; I just want to [say] I am so sorry.”

Trainor concluded, “I am so sorry to any teachers I made feel bad, and I will remind myself that my words definitely could have a consequence, and I will be more careful.”

She captioned the TikTok video, “I am sorry for being careless with my words. I LOVE teachers, and I am here for you… Let’s work to make schools a better place together.” View the clip below.

Meghan Trainor’s Made You Look and Mother have been floating through the ARIA Singles charts throughout the last couple of months. She also joined Amy Shark, Kyle Sandilands and Harry Connick Jr on this year’s Australian Idol reboot.
