Beloved emo outfit Mayday Parade will return to Australia this September to celebrate two decades of their impressive career with the Three Cheers For 20 Years tour.

The tour begins at Melbourne’s Margaret Court Arena on Friday, 12 September, before heading to Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on Saturday, 13 September, Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall on Sunday, 14 September, Adelaide’s Hindley Street Music Hall on Wednesday, 17 September, and Perth’s Metro City on Friday, 19 September. All shows aside from Perth are licensed to fans of all ages.

For the Three Cheers For 20 Years tour, Mayday Parade will be joined by special guests Jack’s Mannequin—the brainchild of emo icon Andrew McMahon—who haven’t toured Australia in 15 years, and up-and-coming band The Home Team.

Pre-sale tickets will be available this Friday, 21 February, at 9 am local time – register here for access to those tickets. The general sale will begin on Tuesday, 25 February, at 9 am local time via the Destroy All Lines website.

Mayday Parade said of their forthcoming return to Australia, “We’re beyond thrilled to return Down Under for a headlining tour in celebration of 20 years as a band and our latest (and upcoming!) releases. Some of our most memorable shows have been in Australia, and that’s all because of you - our incredible fans.”

A cult classic band in the emo/alternative rock scene, Mayday Parade have made their name with songs like Miserable At Best, Jamie All Over, and Stay, and hooked fans with their albums A Lesson In Romantics (2007) and Anywhere But Here (2009).

The band continues to be well-received, with recent releases like 2021’s What It Means To Fall Apart. They are also preparing to release a three-part project that begins with Sweet this April.

Discussing their longevity, the band commented, “I think a large part of why we are all still here is that we have been friends most of our lives, even before the band.

“This is everyone’s full-time job and passion. We all love playing music, so the fire is still alive. We have created something important to us, and it’s imperative that we maintain it by giving it the requisite attention.”
