Maximo Park Reveal January Sideshows

Sydney and Melbourne, you're in luck

Booked in for the Falls and Southbound festivals, Maximo Park have this morning announced their own headline dates in Sydney and Melbourne.

A powerhouse of the modern British indie movement, the band recently released their fourth album The National Health, which takes a pretty grim look at the world's state of affairs – rolling recession, chaos and frustration into the collection of tracks.

Frontman Paul Smith reckons that “The nation [the UK] is out of control and the record is about taking back control, and being a force for change in your own life. It can't speak for everybody but it has its eyes and ears all around us… that's always been a Maximo Park thing: look at yourself. See how you relate to yourself and hopefully someone else will have something in common with it. Our songs are built on empathy. I would hope it's as vital a music as people would want to hear.”

Support from both shows will come from rising upstarts Glass Towers, who'll you'll be hearing a lot more from very soon.

Dates are as follows, tickets on sale now:

Wednesday 2 January – Corner Hotel, Melbourne
Thursday 3 January – The Hi-Fi, Sydney
