This debut from Wollongong’s MARY JANE KELLY has been a long time in the making. Originally pegged to be the first release on Michael Crafter’s (I Killed The Prom Queen) record label earlier this year, the EP was put on hold due to his heavy workload and television stardom. It sat on the shelf for months until recently picked up by prominent hardcore label, Trial And Error. There has been much talk about this band, but with the release of ‘Our Streets Turn White’ (October 11) and their unique live shows, MARY JANE KELLY have not failed to live up to the hype.

There comes a time in a band’s life when you have to accept the fact that people might care just enough to warrant a press release being written. Just to clear things up however, this band has never been about, and never will be about egotistical biographies outlining how “they transcend genres on their tumultuous road to stardom”. When it comes down to it, MARY JANE KELLY are four best friends hanging out – a self-confessed melodramatic frontman, a heavy-metal fan guitarist who works at a steakhouse, a refrigerator mechanic as a bass player and a drummer who is still at school. In fact, the band’s tour and EP release had to be pushed back to accommodate for the drummer’s VCE obligations! But with that out of the way now, these guys are ready to hit the road and spend as much time out there as needed to spread the word.

Having previously shared stages with local and international acts such as A Wilhelm Scream, Lifetime, Bring Me The Horizon, The Ghost Inside, Parkway Drive, Miles Away, I Killed The Prom Queen, Irrelevant, Carpathian, Break Even and more, MARY JANE KELLY will hit the road again, this time in celebration of their debut release. They take with them Melbourne’s The Abandonment and Adelaide’s A Fallen Theory.

The band’s singer Justin Bortignon said, “We’re all just kids doing the things our parents never let us do when we were younger, and if you’re down with that, then come and hang out with us, climb rocks and not shower for a week at a time.”
