The acclaimed singer-songwriter will make her first appearance Down Under in more than a decade this year
Five-time Grammy Award winner and venerated singer-songwriter Mary Chapin Carpenter will return to Australia for the first time in more than a decade this year for a string of national tour dates as part of her 2015 Acoustic World Tour.
Kicking off at the Enmore Theatre, in Sydney, on Thursday, 27 August, Carpenter will perform for audiences at the Gympie Muster, in Queensland, on 28 August; the Whitlam Theatre, in Revesby, on 29 August; Wests New Lambton, in Newcastle, on 30 August; Wests, in Tamworth, on 1 September; Ulumbarra Theatre, in Bendigo, on 3 September; Palais Theatre, in Melbourne, on 4 September; and wrap up her antipodean sojourn with a final appearance at Oakleigh's Caravan Music Club on Saturday, 5 September.
Long-time fans of the Passionate Kisses hitmaker will be treated to a broad range of cuts from the singer's extensive back-catalogue, with both popular hits and lesser-known favourites from across Carpenter's 13-album-strong career guaranteed to rear their heads for Aussie audiences on her acoustic tour. Her forthcoming jaunt is notably more stripped back than her orchestral tour in 2014, but Carpenter won't be alone Down Under — she'll be joined on-stage by old friends Jon Carroll on piano and Austin Nevins on guitars, with extra support from Grammy nominee Tift Merritt.
Tickets for Mary Chapin Carpenter's acoustic Australian tour will go on sale from 10am next Tuesday, 28 April, with a Ticketek pre-sale available for the show at the Enmore commencing at midday on Friday, 24 April.
