An attendee at this weekend's Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in the United States has died after collapsing at the event on Friday (US time), it has been reported.
According to local outlets, the 47-year-old man — who is yet to be identified — passed away in hospital after collapsing inside the event grounds, where he was attended to swiftly by on-site emergency personnel before being taken to a hospital in nearby Manchester, Tennessee.
Officials for Bonnaroo have confirmed the news, explaining that the man's death, which The Tennesseean reports is the 12th in the festival's 14-year history, was apparently related to "a pre-existing cardiac condition".
"Those who were with him informed our medical team that he was suffering from a pre-existing cardiac condition and, unfortunately, we understand that he has died," Bonnaroo emergency services director Carl Monzo said in a statement.
"The safety and security of our patrons are our top priority, and our medical staff responded flawlessly. Our sympathy goes out to his family and friends."
According to The Tennesseean, no further major medical incidents have occurred at this year's Bonnaroo.
The festival concludes tomorrow and features drawcards such as Billy Joel, Florence & The Machine, Kendrick Lamar and Mumford & Sons. More than 90,000 people attended last year's event.
