MAGIC Dirt bassist and co-founder Dean Turner has lost his battle with lung cancer. The rock band, who formed in Geelong in 1992, cancelled two Victorian shows this weekend, including a show at the Corner Hotel on Saturday. As well as touring with Magic Dirt, Turner was an in-demand producer - recently finishing work on Magic Dirt singer Adalita's solo album. Turner, 37, leaves behind a partner and two daughters. A tribute for Turner's family is expected to be announced this week. Magic Dirt's MySpace page has been flooded with tributes to Turner. Their most recent album was last year's Girl. Radio station 97.9FM will play Magic Dirt songs as tribute to Turner from 2pm today.
