NinajirachiVisionary French producer, singer and songwriter Hugo Leclercq, the Grammy-nominated musician known as Madeon, has unveiled his first official remix in 14 years, and it’s of Australian artist Ninajirachi’s generational hit, iPod Touch.
The remix arrives after years of mutual fandom and adoration. It follows the release of Nina’s single, WannaCry, with Porter Robinson – previewed at her recent, entirely sold-out Australian tour – and reimagines the original iPod Touch by giving it a cinematic edge.
Earlier this year, Madeon previewed a mash-up of iPod Touch with his own song, Technicolour, at Coachella and teased the just-released remix at Zedd on the Park this month.
Ninajirachi’s song is inspired by her upbringing in regional New South Wales, capturing a coming-of-age story of music discovery in an effortless world-building single. For his rework, Madeon adds an extra verse that details his own formative memories of discovering music.
Discussing the remix, Ninajirachi shared, “I didn’t really want to release an iPod Touch remix until I could do it with someone whose music I was writing about in the song. I’m really sentimental about it and just wanted it to mean something.”
She continued, “I heard Madeon’s earliest music in the background of a tie-dye denim shorts tutorial on YouTube when I was in Year 7 and fell down a rabbit hole. We met at Coachella this year, and he asked me to be there for his set, but I didn’t know he was going to play an edit of the song. It was earnestly a surprise. Music is so awesome.
“Everything made sense when I heard his verse on the remix, like of course, he went through the same revelation a generation before I did. Everyone who loves anything has been through this. It’s so amazing. I feel so lucky to experience it and have this remix exist.”
Madeon added, “I haven’t done an official remix since 2012, and I wasn’t sure I ever would again… But iPod Touch is one of my favourite dance tracks in recent memory. After hearing Nina talk in an interview about how my early music inspired it, I was incredibly touched.
“I decided to add my own verse talking about my own childhood memories of discovering the music that would change my life. Right now, Nina is inspiring another generation of young artists. This remix is a celebration of the power of transmission.”

Ninajirachi’s debut album, I Love My Computer, was released last year via NLV Records. The album set a new benchmark for Australian electronic music – the latest edition of her Dark Crystal live series sold out her largest Australian headline tour to date months in advance.
Following the release of I Love My Computer and the success of its singles, including iPod Touch, Ninajirachi made her debut at Coachella and shared the stage with artists including PinkPantheress, underscores, and Oklou.
At home, the album won multiple ARIA Awards, including Best Solo Artist and the Michael Gudinski Breakthrough Artist award. Ninajirachi also took home the prestigious Australian Music Prize, as well as the NSW Music Prize, J Award, and multiple AIR Award wins. Now, everybody knows her song.
