American rock legends Lynyrd Skynyrd have announced their first ever Australian tour, with the Sweet Home Alabama hitmakers set to perform in Melbourne and Sydney next February.

It's hard to believe the iconic outfit have never actually toured our shores before, given their stature and longevity in the industry. The band's beginnings date back to the late 1960s and their career has produced more than 60 albums and 30 million record sales worldwide.

Despite the tragic 1977 plane crash that claimed three of the band member's lives including lead singer Ronnie Van Zant, Lynyrd Skynyrd have continued to achieve great success with their music. Their last two albums, 2009's God & Guns and Last Of A Dyin' Breed both reached the top 20 in the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart.

Tickets to these shows are available from 9am on Monday 21 October and we think it'd be best to get in straight away for these ones. Check out theGuide for all the details.
