"We're gonna be coming out with something pretty amazing."

More Daniel Johns More Daniel Johns

Describing the creative skillset of Aussie legends Daniel Johns and Luke Steele as eclectic and unpredictable would be an understatement, so the fact the pair are two months deep into a joint effort is exciting news.

During an interview with triple j talking about Empire Of The Sun’s recently announced new record, Two Vines, Steele said that he had been in the studio with the Silverchair vocalist for two months working on futuristic new music for a joint LP they’ve been teasing fans with for years.

"Me and Dan have been in a studio in L.A. for the last two months and we've just been working on our record and it just sounds like the future. We're gonna be coming out with something pretty amazing," Steele said.

The comments follow a picture that Johns posted to Instagram a week ago of the pair in the studio with the caption “EARLY Dreams”.

The side venture - at one stage to be released under the name Hathaway And Palmer - has been brewing for years now, with Johns telling The Music in 2015 the idea stems back nearly two decades.

“That’s always going. That’s been going since we were 20 or something,” he said.

Empire Of The Sun’s highly anticipated third album, Two Vines, is out Oct 28, while Johns' debut solo record, Talk, came out last year with him delivering a couple of other collaborations since.
