London Grammar ProfileEnglish indie band London Grammar will watch their debut album soar up the ARIA Albums Chart this week as Australian punters vote them the top band of the festival period with their wallets.
The band released the album If You Wait in September, peaking at two on the charts, and midweek chart figures are showing that the record will push into the top ten region this week thanks to their Falls, Southbound and headline show performances – two of which are still to take place in Melbourne this week.
Even through Australian artists may have trumped for the biggest crowd sizes at the festivals, they appear to have converted a lot of new listeners.
The album is currently sitting at 34, after rising from 48 the week before.
While Beyoncé, Katy Perry and Laneway's Lorde are likely to fight out the top spot, the midweek figures are also showing sales bums for Tina Arena's Reset, the Frozen soundtrack, Cold Chisel's The Live Tapes Vol 1: Live At Hordern Pavilion April 18, 2012 and Russell Morris' Sharkmouth.
Earlier today Sharkmouth was revealed as the 33rd top selling album of 2013.
The only debut to trouble the scorers this week will be James Vincent McMorrow's Post Tropical, which is sitting outside the top ten at this stage. He's currently touring.
There'll be more debuts in the ARIA Singles Chart with two versions of Let It Go from the Frozen soundtrack, one by Demo Lovato and another by Idina Menzel, set to debut. Bliss N Eso featuring Ceekay Jones' My Life will also appear in the top 50.
Rudimental featuring Emeli Sande and Nas' Free will push further into the top ten as the week's biggest mover so far, while there's also sales boosts for Joel Fletcher featuring Savage's Swing, London Grammar's Strong, Lily Allen's Hard Out Here and Beyoncé's XO.
