Live Programming May Delay New Apple TV Service

You may have to wait a little longer

The brand new Apple TV may be delayed due its desire to provide subscribers with live local programming from TV stations.

According to a report by Recode, industry executives are negotiating with flagship US networks including ABC, Fox, CBS and more to secure their programming on to the Apple service.

The original plan was for the service to launch late this year, however the time it takes obtain the rights from the networks can be a lengthy process — the most recent example to consider would be ABC, who took two years to clear the rights for their online app, Watch ABC.

In saying that, TV executives who are in negotiations with Apple are confident that the service will launch, with the only issue being money, "not technical issues".

The huge task at hand for Apple is to appeal to a mass audience, as an executive in talks with Apple was quoted as saying that the service: "is supposed to be for 30 million people".

Apple will host the annual Worldwide Developers Conference from June 8, though it is not expected that they will announce any updates or plans for the TV service.
