Mother claims company should have had more staff on site.

The mother of a 19-year-old woman who died at a US music festival two years ago has sued promoters Live Nation for negligence and wrongful death, after she alleged the company did not do enough to ensure punters' safety.

According to Los Angeles Times, Emily Michelle Tran was pronounced dead after she was transported to a hospital from the Hard Summer festival in August 2014 following a suspected drug overdose.

Tran reportedly died of acute intoxication from ecstasy.

Earlier this month Tran's mother filed a lawsuit against the US-based entertainment company which alleges that Live Nation not only knowingly oversold the event, but also failed to provide appropriate medical and security services as Tran's transport to the hospital was reportedly "negligently delayed".

"[Live Nation] turned a blind eye to the known risks in order to capitalize on teenagers and young adults, who believed they were attending a safe party environment properly staffed with adequate security services and emergency personnel," the lawsuit reads.

The lawsuit is seeking punitive damages against the company "in order to set an example of it, and to dissuade it from future reckless and illegal conduct."

The news comes only a month after the family of another 19-year-old woman filed their own lawsuit against Live Nation, as their daughter was one of two college students who died at the same festival last year from drug overdoses.

Three more deaths have been reported at the most recent Hard Summer festival, held near Fontana last month, though the causes are yet to be determined.
