Live Nation Acquires Iconic Independent WA Tour Promotions Group

It's been announced that global live entertainment entity Live Nation has acquired Western Australia's largest locally based independent touring company Mellen Events.

In a move to position Mellen Events for further growth across Australasia, the driving aim behind the strategic acquisition is ultimately to bring more live events to the forefront, while also attracting some of the biggest international and domestic acts to the region.

Opening up opportunities for the WA company and the industry at large, the announcement today also confirms that the  partnership will also deliver an operating office in Perth, and the joint operation of two greenfield sites in Kings Park and the Swan Valley, for Live Nation to solidify the company's commitment to having on-ground presence in all major cities, and to connect with operations across Australia and Asia. 

Of the news today, Live Nation Asia Pacific President Roger Field spoke of the benefits of the union for the industry and the regions.

“Mellen Events have built up a really successful business and reputation for reinventing spaces in Perth and WA as world-class venue sites, attracting top talent, " said Field.

"By welcoming Brad and his team into the fold we will provide them with the resources to expand their local business, giving us the ability to produce shows with even greater local knowledge and together we’ll work on a shared commitment to bring a greater volume and variety of shows to Western Australia."

Helmed by live entertainment veteran and Mellen Events CEO Brad Mellen, the burgeoning company has been a pioneer in Western Australia since 1996, bearing the accolade as being Perth's largest professional touring concert promotion and event development in Australia. And of the collaboration, Mellen was equally enthused, sharing his thoughts via today's official press release.

"This partnership will allow us to attract the very best acts and continue to deliver a unique experience for West Australian music fans."

Already renowned for developing some of the largest and innovative events in the country, including the annual youth festival Future Music Festival, Ord Valley Muster and working alongside Kylie Minogue, Bryan Adams, The Beach Boys and Lorde, Mellen Events are set to continue to blaze many ways forward for Australia's live industry with this latest endeavour, which comes as some much-needed good news as the Aussie live music industry continues to suffer.
