Live Music To Return To Popular Melbourne Pub For Queen's Birthday Weekend

Let's make this a regular thing.

Melbourne's popular Empress Hotel will welcome back live music seemingly as a one-off event for the Queen's Birthday long weekend.

The Fitzroy North venue, which was considered as one the city's premier live music venues and hosted gigs for the likes of The White Stripes and Silverchair prior to its closure in 2013, will see local favourites East Brunswick All Girls Choir perform, while The Shabbab will support.

The free show will kick off from 5pm on Sunday, 11 June.

The return of live music for the Empress can be attributed to the recent appointment of venue manager Rory Kelaart, who has previously worked with a string of stalwart Melbourne establishments, including the Espy and the Corner Hotel.

The Music has contacted Kelaart for comment regarding the future of live music at the Empress.
