"I've just been listening to them over and over again."
UK singer/songwriter Lewis Watson was in town recently for a promotional run and revealed that he loves Australian music and acts like troubadour Matt Corby and punk act Trophy Eyes.
Stopping by to chat with theMusic.com.au, Watson explained he encountered Corby after supporting him at Glastonbury, citing him as a "massive inspiration".
"I said [to him], I wanna let you know you're quite an integral part of my sound at the moment and I really appreciate your music. I absolutely love that guy," he gushes.
Watson also shouts out Newcastle band Trophy Eyes: "I heard that track Chlorine, and I was just like, 'this song is incredible!' I absolutely love their sound and that album, I've just been listening to them over and over again."

Watson says he champions Aussie music to his friends back home and laments that more Australian artists don't crack the UK music scene.
"I love Australian artists — it's the same with Irish artists — I feel like there's something in the water here where you guys start here when you're born," he gestures near his face, "and the rest of us have to work their way up … It's a shame, Australian artists just don't make it over to the UK!"
