Legion Music Fest Fully Funded; Confirmed To Go Ahead In 2017

After it was confirmed in January that the inaugural Legion music festival will be postponed until next year, organisers have today announced that the event is fully funded and that the crowdfunding campaign will be brought to a close. 

Initially launched through a Pozible campaign, the festival will no longer be accepting pledges as it gears up for its debut event in 2017. 

Legion founder John Sankey says the crowd support the festival received since its inception last December assisted in ensuring that the event will go ahead next year. 

"Given that it took longer than anticipated to lock in a headline act, along with a number of other external forces going on in the industry at the moment, we realized that, even though these issues made it very difficult for us to reach our goal in time, the campaign support had given us all the leverage necessary to move forward and fund and confirm the festival," Sankey said. 

While ticket prices and on-sale dates will be announced shortly, Sankey has promised that those who did pledge through the Pozible campaign will be recognised as founding members. 

Though Legion will no longer be crowd-funded, Sankey insists that that the festival's ethic will be upheld.

"As the founders of this festival, myself, Mark Spillane and Kristie Lawrence are committed to ensuring that we stick to our promise of creating something truly special and unique for the fans and we promise that we will continue to be completely honest and transparent throughout the planning process," he said.

Bands confirmed to perform so far include Lordi, Devil Driver, Frontline Assembly, Devil You Know, Darkest Hour, Battle Cross, Capture The Crown, Dream on Dreamer, Aversions Crown, Polaris, Heard of Cows?, 28 Day, Caligula’s Horse, Darkc3ll and Rick Dangerous and the Silkie Bantams.
